Nepenthe (noun): a drink, drug, plant, or anything that brings about an easeful forgetfulness of one's sorrow or trouble.
"Song-writing is my nepenthe, my way of dealing with the challenges that come into my life. The song "Nepenthe" was the last song that I wrote as I wrapped up recording this, my first CD of original songs. It seemed appropriate as the name for the CD since every song was written as a kind of nepenthe for me. I hope that the songs on "Nepenthe" offer you an easeful forgetfulness of whatever sorrows or troubles you are experiencing. May they bring as much joy to you while you listen as they gave to me when I wrote and recorded them!"
~ Wendy Abigail Treat
